SynapSense™ Names Data Center Energy-Efficiency Expert, Ray Pfeifer, Vice President of Business Development
Prior to joining SynapSense, Pfeifer led the Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s data center initiatives. In his previous role, Pfeifer served as chair of the Energy Efficient Data Center demonstration project and as a research consultant for Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, leading its California Energy Commission-funded Data Centers 21 Environmental Performance Criteria project.
Pfeifer’s professional background also includes serving on the management team of several successful technology startups. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of business development and marketing for Celerity Group Inc., the leading flow instrumentation and gas and chemical delivery supplier to the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry. Before joining Celerity, Pfeifer spent more than 20 years as an entrepreneur in critical facilities design and energy efficiency — including 10 years as founder, chief executive and president of a process engineering consulting and software/systems integration company serving the semiconductor and biotech industries and leading university and government research laboratories.
“Ray is one of the leading industry evangelists for green IT technologies and data center energy-efficiency best practices, and is a strategic addition to the SynapSense management team,” said SynapSense Chief Executive Officer Peter Van Deventer. “SynapSense has deployed our Wireless Green Data Center solution in data centers operated by Fortune 500 companies from Wall Street to Silicon Valley, and Ray will help us further define and align our product development roadmap with the technology needs of leading data center operators.”
“SynapSense core wireless technology is uniquely capable of combining real-time data with distributed control capability that can deliver both energy and carbon emissions reductions, while dramatically improving the critical data center environment,” said Pfeifer. “I am very excited to be joining SynapSense at this time, and look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with leading data center industry stakeholders to continue to bring new clean and green technologies that make a difference into the world’s largest data centers.”
Additionally, industry experts lauded Pfeifer joining SynapSense.
“Ray Pfeifer is a great addition to the SynapSense team,” said Silicon Valley Leadership Group CEO Carl Guardino. “He is well-respected and well-connected in Silicon Valley, passionate about technology and deeply engaged in the community.”
