The SynapSense Solution is comprised of a complete hardware and software solution set that enables a robust sensor net platform and extensive customer applications. The platform boasts a scalable and an extensible software environment for sensor network applications, including system software (operating systems and virtual machines), software synthesis and scaling tools, distributed middleware, and programming languages. We are leveraging existing sensor net industry investments, utilizing best-in-class hardware from identified partners, and building upon that with internally developed sensing platforms and software applications.
Market
The market for wireless sensor networks and solutions is the result of a new convergence of the instrumentation and information technology markets, as they both are enabling a new "edge" made possible by the introduction of low-power, low-data-rate battery powered radio devices. These devices, which contain a battery, microcontroller, standardized radio and often a MEMS-based sensor, are capable of sensing, computing, and communicating the resulting information, in an extremely efficient fashion. Environments range from data centers to warehouses and literally anywhere there is a gap in instrumentation, metrology and response.
The SynapSense Wireless Green Data Center Solution provides data center operators up to one million vital signs per day, which can enable savings of up to 15 percent of energy costs by providing new data intelligence, triangulation and tools to monitor and react to actual data center conditions.
Utility Partners
SynapSense has established strategic partnerships to support the development of a data center energy audit protocol. This protocol would enable and incentivize energy conservation programs. We are proactively engaged with PG&E, SMUD and other energy utilities to earn approval for energy conservation subsidies. SynapSense is also collaborating with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group in support of their initiative to develop ‘best methods & practices’ to save energy and support other ‘green’ or 'cleantech' programs.
Technology
SynapSense Solutions are comprised of SynapSense sensor nodes, gateways, routers and server platforms. These solutions are based on a broad range of innovative technologies that provide unique differentiation for the company products. The software technologies address the unique requirements of WSN applications during their development, deployment and long term management needs.
