Overview

Growing IT loads are outstripping the power and cooling capacity in today’s data centers and have become expensive bottlenecks to increasing much needed IT expansion. These issues are compounded by the lack of coordination between the IT and Facilities groups to collectively manage the IT equipment and cooling capacity required to support efficient data center operations. To solve these complex problems, SynapSense has added P3 SmartPlug™ and SmartLink™ to our Power Suite products to capture cabinet and outlet level power metering.

The new Power Suite products enable customers to optimize loads, reduce stranded power and identify available and used capacity in real-time. P3 SmartPlug™ and SmartLink™ are unique capacity management tools that identify available power and leverage SynapSense granular environmental sensing to simultaneously locate cooling capacity. These new additions to the SynapSense Power Suite of products increase resiliency and reduce the risk of overloading by providing immediate alarms for phase or load balancing violations.

SynapSense® Power Metering and Branch Circuit Monitoring

SynapSense® Power Metering and Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM) are providing data center operators robust tools to further improve their data center energy efficiency. Power metering is utilized to measure the data center cooling infrastructure and overall IT load. Branch Circuit Monitoring enables circuit-level monitoring to capture power by rack or cabinet. It supports IT load balancing and capacity management.

Branch Circuit Monitoring

The BCM solution interfaces via split-core CTs with PDU circuit panels or RPPs and supports up to two 42-circuit panels. BCM is used to monitor individual circuits to prevent overloading and costly downtime. The solution monitors amps, voltage, power factor, and energy. Combined with the SynapSense Power Suite console, BCM will help data center managers track and manage the power usage through all power distribution equipment with rack-level visibility. Our Power Suite products allows for monitoring of circuit and rack-level power, leading to phase balancing and optimization of loading across PDU’s.

PowerLogic Power Metering

The PowerLogic ION 6200 power meter is a high-quality, low-cost solution for metering and monitoring energy usage. The metered data is integrated in the Power Suite console. Understand your facility’s electrical usage patterns, total energy consumption and power demand in order to establish a baseline for implementing energy savings initiatives and validating results.
