Information technology is growing in importance and energy consumption, no matter the size of your business. Significant opportunities are available to improve computational energy efficiency, as well as the efficiency of the infrastructure that provides power and cooling to the computer equipment. This workshop, presented by Mark Hydeman, P.E., of Taylor Engineering, Mark Bramfitt, P.E., consultant, and Ray Pfeifer, of SynapSense, will provide state-of-the-art strategies to improve operation efficiency and increase capacity of existing data centers, including server virtualization, power management, and HVAC equipment optimization. The workshop includes a technology fair where vendors and suppliers will be able to provide information and answer questions.
Presenters:
Mark Hydeman, PE, FASHRAE is a founding Principal at Taylor Engineering, LLC an HVAC consulting firm located in Alameda, California. Mark has over 20 years of experience in the design and commissioning of energy efficient and cost effective commercial buildings. Mark is recognized as a leader in the design and retrofit of data centers for energy efficiency. For his innovative design work and energy efficiency research Mark was elevated to Fellow in ASHRAE.
Mark Bramfitt, P.E., a private consulting engineer, located in San Francisco, CA, uses his expertise and knowledge gained at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, to promote successful engagements between the information technology and utility industries, focusing on energy efficiency and demand –side management opportunities. He was responsible for designing and delivering programs and services to help customers manage their energy use in the high tech, biotech, and healthcare industry segments. Mark led the effort to develop a utility industry-leading program portfolio for data centers and information technology infrastructure, including training and education, technical support, and financial incentives and rebates.
Ray Pfeifer is the SVP of Business Development at SynapSense, a mesh wireless sensor networking company located in Folsom, California. Ray has over 20 years of experience in the design, construction and commissioning of research labs, biotech and semiconductor manufacturing plants and data centers. He is recognized as a technology development and thought leader in the IT industry and is a technical industry leader on data center energy assessments, energy efficiency retrofits and proof of concept projects using SynapSense’s innovative WSN technology.
