SynapSense in the Community
When SynapSense employees are not putting their specialized skills to work for the company, they are hard at work in the community volunteering their time to a variety of wonderful charitable causes in a number of unique ways.
Read below to see how some of our employees are supporting charitable organizations and contributing their time to the improving their community.
Jeff Boone
Since 2006 Jeff has been closely involved as a board member of the Friends of Folsom Zoo Sanctuary, serving as the President since 2008.
The Friends of the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation acting as the fundraising arm of the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary located in Folsom, California. The Zoo's mission is to "Teach Responsible Human Behavior Towards All Animals." Their primary focus is North American native species, with special emphasis on the plight of wild animals inappropriately raised as pets, non-releasable or injured wildlife, and confiscated wild animals. Animals that would otherwise be destroyed are given a protected habitat to live out their lives.

Directors, Members and Volunteers give their time without compensation and are active in sponsoring Friends core programs and committees to support the needs of the foundation and animals at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary.
Justin Lewis

Justin has been volunteering regularly at the Davis Farmer’s market and the Davis Chamber of Commerce for the past 11 years. He now leads teams of 5-10 people to quickly, safely, and graciously do whatever the task, while always looking for others ways to help.
Feedback that he recently received from Davis Farmer’s Market coordinator is that she loves to work with us. We show up on time and work hard. She says she likes that when she says something, that she can trust us to get it done, and so she can forget about it and move on to the next thing. Another person said of us that we don't just leave, but work hard until the job is done.
Justin has also volunteered at the Sierra Health Care Convalescent Hospital for a couple of years, where he spends time talking with and singing with the patients there, that he might bring hope and gladness to their day.

Justin trains and mentors youth through summer youth camps and sports and fitness camps, as well as serves as a career coach to high school and college students, where he presents job search seminars, reviews resumes and performs mock-interviews.
"Even though these are charitable and community services, I feel it is
nothing special on my part. I don’t want praise for these activities.
I only hope I can be used to inspire by example more people
to give back more and lead selfless lives."

"It is extremely rewarding watching these kids grow up into responsible
teenagers. My role is very time consuming, but the satisfaction and enjoyment over the course of each season far outweighs the long hours."

Patricia Nealon
For over a decade, Patricia Nealon and her husband, Dr. Del Wright have spent their anniversary week in the Dominican Republic, volunteering for Medical Aid for Children of Latin American (MACLA). This organization provides medical relief to hundreds of children each year who suffer from cleft palates, severe burns and other debilitating hardships.

“One of our most rewarding experiences was taking care of twin 18 month old girls with cleft palates. We will never forget the look on their mother’s face when she took them into her arms after surgery. They were perfectly beautiful and her smile and tears said it all.”
Patricia and her husband also support Kidsave International, a non-profit organization whose mission is to place older orphaned children into families.

"Over the years we have sponsored children from Kazakhstan and Colombia in the Kidsave Summer Miracles Program who have found families (including ours) and are now living in the U.S.”
