New Environmental Optimization Services Help Operators Baseline Conditions, Optimize Data Center Performance and Save 20 to 35 Percent of Cooling Energy

FOLSOM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SynapSense Corporation, a leading provider of wireless instrumentation solutions, today announced it is offering Data Center Assessment and Optimization Services as part of its industry-leading Data Center Monitoring and Energy Management Solution.

SynapSense is conducting yearly assessments and collaborating with customers to optimize their data centers, targeting a 20 to 35 percent reduction in cooling energy. This service includes airflow optimization, utility rebate assistance, a return on investment analysis and use of the SynapSense Data Center Monitoring and Energy Management Solution.

As part of this vendor-agnostic service, the assessment includes airflow management, metrics analyzing total information technology (IT) load and cooling capacity, estimated cooling efficiency, air mixing and overall air flow conditions.

 Once the assessment is complete, SynapSense provides a report detailing optimization opportunities, corresponding cost, expected energy savings and overall return on investment (including the time expected to recoup investment). SynapSense also coordinates with the local utility provider for the data center customer to take advantage of the rebates or qualified incentive programs when available. SynapSense then works directly with customers to implement the recommendations within the report that typically include rebalancing the raised floor, air mixing mitigation, matching cooling capacity to the IT load and planning cooling capacity for additional IT load, as necessary.

SynapSense conducted Assessment and Optimization Services for a Fortune 50 financial institution that resulted in an 18 percent savings in cooling energy. The customer was able to turn off four of 15 computer room air conditioning units (CRACs). Another customer, among the Fortune 10 companies, achieved more than a 30 percent savings in cooling energy as a result of its collaborative optimization efforts with SynapSense.
