RagingWire to Save Over $600,000 in Energy Efficiency in 2010
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--James Kennedy, Director of Data Center Operations and Construction at RagingWire Enterprise Solutions, Inc., has been selected as a featured speaker at the upcoming Data Center Dynamics Conference, July 16, 2010, San Francisco. James will present the RagingWire Data Center Energy Efficiency (DCEE) case study: "Maximizing Efficiency Across the Board on Data Center Cooling in a Concurrently Maintainable and Fault Tolerant Data Center."
The presentation highlights a case study of several data center energy efficiency and green computing improvement initiatives; enabled by improved environmental and power monitoring, controls, and partnerships with SynapSense, Emerson Network Power, Schneider Electric, and York. As a result, RagingWire's data center is increasing chilled water supply temperature 10F, improving chiller restart and response by 80%, and saving over $600,000 in 2010.
Robert Quinn, RagingWire Vice President of Information Technology, explains, "The data center industry views RagingWire, with our N+2 redundant design and relentless focus on client satisfaction, as being one of the elite data center providers in the nation. Unfortunately, with these accolades comes the perception of high price. Our ongoing data center efficiencies have allowed us to increase client satisfaction, become a greener company, and ultimately reduce our price to customers."
“RagingWire is establishing leadership in the colocation market not only by saving energy, but also by providing granular visibility of data center operations and validation of their SLA’s to their customers,” said Peter Van Deventer, Chief Executive Officer of SynapSense Corporation. “We are proud to include them among our valued customers.”
Jim Kennedy is currently Director of Data Center Operations and Construction, where he is responsible for day to day operations, engineering, and construction and is overseeing the build out of the next RagingWire data center facility of over 220,000 sq. ft. He has also completed eight major energy efficiency and green computing programs, saving over 4,000,000 kWh in the last year. Prior to joining RagingWire in Sacramento, Jim served in the United States Naval Nuclear Submarine Force as a Lieutenant Commander on several fast attack submarines. Jim received a B.S. in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
