Folsom firm wins GE's Ecomagination competition
November 18, 2010
SynapSense Corp. of Folsom is one of 12 winners of General Electric Co.’s first GE Ecomagination Challenge: Powering the Grid.
GE announced the winners on Wednesday.
More than 3,500 companies were in competition for the award, which includes support from GE teams and part of a $55 million investment.
Four of the companies GE chose are from California.
SynapSense uses wireless mesh sensor networks to monitor and manage data center energy use, resulting in reductions in electrical use.
GE Energy Financial Services in July invested $5 million and became a partner with SynapSense.
“They looked at a lot of really good companies, so it is a pretty big win,” said Peter Van Deventer, chief executive officer.
