ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other projects/duties may be assigned.

• Analyze requirements to create and document software designs
• Communicate with local and remote development teams to understand design constraints
• Develop new and modify existing software code to implement new functionality
• Develop automated test cases to validate your work
• Work independently to plan and execute tasks with minimal supervision 
• Ability to travel on occasion as necessary to meet with clients, validate solutions, diagnose problems, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

While this position has no direct supervisory responsibility, based on the skill and experience level of the individual, this role may assist in the supervision and direction of team staff (team lead) and 3rd parties (contractors) as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Work evidences excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management skill to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
• Proven estimation skill, demonstrating a consistent ability to accurately plan and execute project assignments within agreed scope and schedule
• Thorough understanding of hardware, firmware and software development. Demonstrated familiarity with product development life cycles.
• Experience with the following technologies considered highly desirable: JBoss Application Server; JBoss Drools; Groovy; Hibernate; JUnit test environment; database programming (MySQL is a strong plus)
• Experience creating user interfaces and performing usability testing
• Experience with distributed version control (Git), build (Ant) and bug tracking (Bugzilla)
• Exercises sound judgment and utilizes initiative and creativity to identify solutions and solve problems
• Provides and accepts suggestions and feedback positively
• Works well independently, in groups and with remote employees and off-shore contractors.

 REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong CS background in algorithms, data structures and state machines
• Strong knowledge and 3+ years of development experience building Java-based applications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands needed are: sitting or standing for extended periods of time and dexterity of hands & fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.  May work long hours or weekends in order to meet business deadlines.
