ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other projects/duties may be assigned.

• New product design for mechanical components and design selection, 3D modeling using Solidworks
• Develop product drawings, manage change control and develop product specifications
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with a multi-cultural, multi-location Engineering organization to deliver leading edge solutions
• Provide direct input on planning, budgeting, costing models
• Identify and manage the remediation process for all quality issues perceived or identified 
• Provide specific and creative input into the product development process to address quality issues and ensure timely delivery
• Work independently to plan and execute tasks with minimal supervision 
• Ability to travel as necessary 
• Based on education and background provide backup and coverage for other functional roles in hardware development

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This role has no direct supervisory responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Work evidences of excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills required to effectively manage projects from inception to completion.  
• Proven estimation skill, demonstrating a consistent ability to accurately plan and execute project assignments within agreed scope and schedule
• Thorough understanding of hardware (Electrical/Mechanical) as well as thermal and environmental impacts on electronic equipment and enclosures.
• Strong understanding of the design of electronics
• RF Circuit Design knowledge strongly desired
• Professional mechanical drawing experience
• Experience with Change Control, ECO, PLM and BOM management required.
• Exercises sound judgment and utilizes initiative and creativity to identify solutions and solve problems
• Fluency with Solidworks and the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, etc.)
• Working knowledge of electronic CAD systems, e.g. Pads etc.
• Provides and accepts suggestions and feedback positively
• Works well independently, in groups and with remote employees and off-shore contractors.
• Provides and accepts suggestions and feedback positively
• Conversational ability in Mandarin Chinese a plus
• First-hand hardware, firmware and software development knowledge is desirable

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years professional experience designing electro-mechanical products for the electronics industry

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands needed are: sitting or standing for extended periods of time and dexterity of hands & fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.  May work long hours or weekends in order to meet business deadlines.
