Rating follows Panduit “Visionaries” Quadrant position in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Infrastructure Management Tools

January 5, 2015 TINLEY PARK, Ill., – Panduit Corp., the leading global provider of next-generation Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solutions, announced Gartner has given Panduit the highest score of 4.23 out of 5 for the Colocation Provider Use Case reflecting one of the three uses cases in Critical Capabilities for Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Tools.  The score tied two other vendors in that category in the first-ever Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Tools1.  The product scores Panduit SmartZone™ DCIM and SynapSense™ solutions were given for all three Use Cases named in the report* are 4.23, 4.20 and 4.23 out of 5 for Colocation Provider, Large Enterprise/Managed Service Provider and Midsize Enterprise, respectively.

Gartner Critical Capabilities Vendor AssessmentThe Critical Capabilities rating follows Gartner positioning of Panduit in the “Visionaries” Quadrant of its Inaugural Magic Quadrant for Data Center Infrastructure Management Tools2 in September.

“Panduit has invested heavily in products and technologies to create the most comprehensive global DCIM solution available,” said Khaled Nassoura, vice president of the Panduit Data Center Infrastructure business unit. “Leveraging 60 years of experience, Panduit has a strong pedigree of data center infrastructure leadership and through focused DCIM acquisitions we have expanded our market leading capabilities. We believe Gartner’s Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities reports validate the strength of the Panduit DCIM portfolio. Panduit was one of only seven DCIM vendors included in the Critical Capabilities report and among the 17 recognized DCIM vendors in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.”

According to Gartner, “With over 50 vendors claiming participation in the DCIM market, there are a lot of solutions to evaluate and enough vendor hype that IT and facilities managers cannot take all of the vendor claims at face value.”3

“When enterprises start to focus on all of the components that make up the ecosystem, they will begin to make informed long-range decisions4,” wrote Dave Cappuccio, Research VP, Gartner. “When enterprises understand the cascade effects that one decision has on all the other components, IT will stop working in a vacuum.”4

“Understanding the operational chasm that sometimes exists between managing the data center facility and the IT assets, Panduit has focused on a trusted data model with increased usability by facility managers and IT managers,” said Nassoura. “We are pleased that our DCIM solutions have been recognized not only by Gartner, but by other leading analysts. We feel these ratings highlight to Panduit customers our ability to improve data center capacity utilization through actionable intelligence about their power, space, cooling, assets, and network connectivity to maximize return on investment.”

Gartner’s Critical Capabilities help IT and data center leadership determine which DCIM offering best fits its needs by providing a comparative analysis that scores DCIM vendors in the most significant usage scenarios in the market. This enables IT management to assess the comparative strengths of multiple DCIM offerings against their current and future needs. The seven DCIM critical capabilities Gartner identified are power monitoring, environmental monitoring, reporting and visualization; resource management, IT physical asset monitoring and management; predictive analysis / model simulation, and workflow integration management.
